The Lyon Institute of East Asian Studies (Institut d’Asie Orientale) will host the
30th annual conference of the European Association of Sinological Librarians
at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon in France on 8-10 September 2010.
Presentation
The conference is an opportunity for librarians to examine a wide range of issues, including EASL internal affairs, academic, technical or administrative questions about sinological libraries, their public and staff. The conference aims to strengthen the links between the European libraries in Chinese studies and to reinforce exchanges on the development of Chinese studies. With the increasing availability of digital libraries in China and Taiwan today, the conference is a key moment to study and discuss the online and print productions by Chinese and Taiwanese providers.
This year, for the first time in EASL meetings, we shall have the honour to receive a guest speaker from the National Library, Mr. Wang Zhigeng 王志庚, the director of the Department of digital resources. This will increase our knowledge about the Chinese open-access and commercial databases for research on China and Taiwan.
