The CENTER FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDIES AND RESEARCH announces its participation to the Summer Schools offered next July by our colleagues of the International Studies Center (CÉRIUM) at the Université de Montréal.
The Schools are intended for citizens interested in international affairs, members of NGOs, civil servants, journalists, business people, professors, researchers and graduate students. The courses are given entirely in English.
India : Suprising Modernity
July 2nd to July 8th 2007
Gathering Indian, American, European and Quebec experts, this course charts the emergence and importance of this new giant : largest democracy in the world, surging economy, vibrant pop culture, military and nuclear power, caste system, significant social problems... The academic director of the course is Christophe Jaffrelot, director of the CERI, in Paris, and one of the foremost specialists of India.
China Risen : How it changes and changes us
July 9th to 15th 2007
Gathering experts from Beijing, Paris and Quebec, the summer school on China offers participants a global understanding of the transformation of today’s China and an appraisal of its impacts on the Western world. The academic director of the school is well-known China expert Jean-Philippe Béja, senior researcher at the CERI, in Paris. |
